Genesis 18: 1-15.  A son is promised to Abraham and Sarah laughs

Psalm 116: 1-2, 12-19. The Lord always listens.

Romans 5: 1-8. God shows us how much He loves us

Matthew 9: 35 – 10:8. Jesus instructs his disciples as he sends them out on mission.

Monday:

Adoration Focus: This week we focus on the mystery and wonder of our Trinitarian God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  God is community filled with wonderful passion. Each day identify some aspect of the passions and loves that fill the heart of God. Then praise God that He is this kind of God. Focus for today: vulnerability in loving.

Confession: This week examine the passions of your heart.  What is your heart full of?  Identify Godly passions in the life of Jesus.  Pray that God may fill your life with these. Focus for today: allowing vulnerability in loving.

Shared Focus: The Trinity holds this world in an embrace of deep passion.  If you were to share in this embrace how would that direct your prayers for this world?  Today focus on: people with faiths different from your own.

Readings: Preparing for Trinity Sunday (11 June)

Genesis 1:1-2:4a. The maker of heaven and earth is God-in-community who calls the totality of creation “very good.”

Psalm Response: Psalm 8. A song of wonder to the creator who made all things and gave us a special place in it.

2 Corinthians 13:11-13Paul concludes this letter to the Corinthians by calling for peace and blessing them with the Trinitarian blessing widely known as “the apostolic blessing.”

Matthew 28:16-20The Great Commission of our Lord — as you are going, make disciples — involves baptizing them in the name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, not only inviting but initiating people who will follow into the Life of the Divine Community.

Monday:

Adoration Focus: Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob! (Psalm 81:1)

Confession: This week we examine our lives using the acts of the sinful nature as we find them in Galatians 5:19-21.  Look up these acts in your bible.  Each day focus on one or two.  Then bring your life to God to be filled with the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) Again you may want to focus on a specific fruit each day.

Shared Focus: This week we pray for God’s continued outpouring of his Holy Spirit upon his world, church and individuals. Today pray that God’s Spirit may be poured out on your land and all its peoples.  That the Spirit of God may bring  unity and creativity.
